Men and women from Saxony receive significantly less pension than the national average after at least 45 years of insurance. This is the result of the Federal Ministry of Labor's response to a question from Dietmar Bartsch, member of the Bundestag for the Left Party.
According to this, women in the Free State received an average pension of 1,416 euros last year. Only in Thuringia was this figure lower at 1,401 euros. Women in Berlin received the highest pension at 1,576 euros. Men in Saxony received an average of 1,590 euros, compared to 1,907 euros in Baden-Württemberg.
According to the figures, one in four people in Germany receive less than 1,300 euros a month after 45 years of insurance. On average, the statutory pension amounted to 1,668 euros nationwide and 1,527 euros in the east. This is an indictment of politics, a sign of an obviously misguided pension policy, said Bartsch. Pensioners in Germany "have to make do with millions of mini-pensions, even though they have contributed to Europe's strongest economy for decades".
