Herbst is back on the FDP federal executive - and wants to give his party new momentum. The man from Dresden is hoping for a comeback for his party in the next elections.

Dresden FDP politician Torsten Herbst has been re-elected to the federal executive committee. The 51-year-old business graduate was elected to the new leadership team at the FDP national party conference in Berlin, as announced by the FDP state association in Saxony.

Herbst was active for the FDP in the Saxon state parliament and in the Bundestag for many years and most recently worked as a budget and transport expert. In his introductory speech, he said: "The FDP must once again inspire in terms of content and at the same time convey a liberal attitude to life." Herbst will fight for this on the FDP's Federal Executive Committee and bring a Saxon perspective to Berlin.

The FDP is facing major challenges, Herbst said. It is not only about modernizing the party, but also about developing a vision for the future of Germany and making it clear why a liberal-liberal force is needed in the parliaments. "We are working flat out towards the comeback in 2029," Herbst emphasized.
