Discussion about photo - District Administrator Krüger distances himself

After the discussion about a photo taken at a May Day celebration, Central Saxony's district administrator Sven Krüger (non-party) has admitted to making mistakes. It shows him posing with a man wearing a T-shirt with right-wing extremist symbolism as well as tattoos typical of the scene. The "Freie Presse" newspaper had reported that other visitors had contacted the newspaper about this.

Greens state leader Marie Müser then accused the local politician of trivializing neo-Nazis and their inhuman attitudes. "Especially in a federal state where right-wing extremist violence is on the rise like never before, all democrats must take a clear stance and maintain their position."

Krüger: "I made a mistake."

"I expressly regret that these pictures were taken," Krüger now explained in a statement. "Anyone who draws conclusions about my political views from a picture at a public festival with thousands of visitors is wrong." He takes the criticism expressed seriously. He respects freedom of expression and condemns extremism in any form, explained the district administrator.

Krüger was mayor of Freiberg for many years and won the district administrator election in Central Saxony in January. He officially took office on May 1. In 2023, his speech at a lavish ball in St. Petersburg, Russia, caused sharp criticism.
