Steinmeier temporarily moves his official residence to Saxony

Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier plans to conduct his official business from Delitzsch for three days from Tuesday. The visit to the district of North Saxony is part of the "Ortszeit Deutschland" series, in which the head of state regularly travels to various regions to talk to citizens and get to know local developments.

The Office of the Federal President had previously attested that Delitzsch had overcome enormous challenges in recent decades and reinvented itself as a town and region. Today, the municipality benefits, among other things, from the economic dynamism in the northern Leipzig region and from the planned large-scale research center "Center for the Transformation of Chemistry", which is to be built as part of the structural change.

Planned events include political talks, a citizens' dialogue on compulsory military service, a visit to the new Elberitzbad and an exchange with representatives of cooperatives. An award ceremony for committed citizens with the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany is also on the agenda.
