The SC DHfK Leipzig handball team will once again be without Simon Ernst. The captain of the Saxons has suffered a serious injury to his left knee and will miss the Bundesliga club for the long term. In last Monday's home game against Hamburg, the 31-year-old landed awkwardly after a throw in the 45th minute. MRI diagnostics on Tuesday at Leipzig University Hospital confirmed the severity of the injury.
"News like this always catches you unawares and hits you hard. First of all, I feel incredibly sorry for Simon, who has already put up with an incredible amount in his career. When you see what he invests in himself and the team every day, it hurts all the more," said DHfK
Sports Director Bastian Roscheck. However, the all-clear has been given for national player Luca Witzke, who also had to leave the pitch recently. The playmaker did not suffer an injury.
