The Bundesliga handball players of Thüringer HC have also won their second home game in the group stage of the European League. The team of Head Coach Herbert Müller prevailed in a thriller against league leaders CS Minaur Baia Mare by 33:32 (15:18). Johanna Reichert excelled for THC with 14 goals and also scored five seconds before the end to secure victory.
Both teams set a high tempo right from the start. Reichert immediately got into the game for the Thuringians and scored her fifth goal at 7:6 (12th minute). When the Romanians switched to an offensive defense, the THC briefly lost its way. With a 6:2 run, the visitors turned the narrow deficit into a 12:9 lead (24'). Although the club from Thuringia regained its punch in attack, it was too passive in defense and so trailed 22:26 midway through the second half.
After a timeout by Müller, the home side was completely transformed. They defended far more aggressively and turned the ball they won into counter-attacking goals. The THC produced an 8:1 run to take a 30:27 lead (55'). However, the visitors fought back and equalized with 38 seconds remaining to make it 32:32 before Reichert decided the game.
