The women's handball club Thüringer HC has celebrated its third successive away win in the German league. The team of Head Coach Herbert Müller won the eastern duel at SV Union Halle-Neustadt by a commanding 43:36 (24:15) in front of 980 spectators on Wednesday.
Johanna Reichert was the best scorer for THC, which remains in fourth place with 15:7 points, on her comeback after an injury break of more than two months with seven goals. Cara Reuthal excelled for the team from Halle (2:20 points), coached by Ines Seidel, with 13 goals.
The home side forced a duel at eye level until midway through the first half, before the club from Thuringia pulled away with a 6:1 run to 15:10 (22nd minute). Halle now had nothing to counter the visitors' fast attacking play and was already hopelessly behind at the break.
After the break, the THC's concentration in defense dropped significantly. In an open exchange of blows, the hosts were able to put the finishing touches to the result.
