National player Giovanna Hoffmann will leave Bundesliga club RB Leipzig this summer. This was announced by the club. The 27-year-old, who made the leap into the German national team in Leipzig, does not want to extend her expiring contract.
"It was incredibly difficult for me not to extend my contract, but sometimes opportunities in soccer don't come around twice," said Hoffmann, who suffered a cruciate ligament rupture on matchday 6 against SGS Essen. She moved to Leipzig from SC Freiburg in the summer of 2024. "I was shown a lot of trust and appreciation right from the start, even though my career had stalled before the move," said the striker. Numerous first division clubs have recently expressed interest.
Kadowaki is loaned out to Japan
Mai Kadowaki is also leaving. She will be loaned out to RB Ōmiya Ardija in the Japanese WE League with immediate effect. The 24-year-old only moved to RB from Swedish champions FC Rosengard in January 2025. Since then, she has made 18 appearances for the RBL women in the Bundesliga and two games in the DFB Cup. She scored two goals against Andernach in the cup and set up one goal in the Bundesliga.
