Allergy sufferers in Saxony can continue to breathe easy thanks to the changeable weather. The rain ensures a low concentration of mugwort in the air, as Christina Endler from the Center for Medical-Meteorological Research of the German Weather Service (DWD) said. Mugwort is currently in peak bloom.
The level of grass pollen is also low. This is due to the weather and the fact that the grass pollen season is just coming to an end.
Ambrosia is already occasionally in the air. However, as the season has yet to really get going here and no pollen has been carried into the country by the wind from other regions of Europe, the overall load is also rather low here.
Unstable weather also at the weekend
According to Endler, the weather in Saxony will remain unstable at the weekend. It could become drier again in the coming week - and that could mean more pollen in the air. The Pollen Foundation is also expecting more mugwort pollen in the coming days. The amount of hop pollen could also increase.
The DWD is expecting rain and thunderstorms on Saturday and Sunday. Temperatures are expected to reach 19 to 23 degrees on Saturday and 20 to 22 degrees on Sunday. On Friday, isolated heavy rain with 20 liters per square meter in a short time, small-grained hail and wind gusts of up to 60 kilometers per hour are possible.
