The Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW) wants to use artificial intelligence to better guide patients through the healthcare system. In light of unfilled family physician positions, long wait times, and overcrowded emergency rooms, the BSW parliamentary group in the Saxon State Parliament announced that it is proposing a forward-looking initiative for healthcare.
A motion calls on the government to develop a corresponding AI-based platform and to integrate it with existing systems such as electronic health records and e-prescriptions. This would benefit both patients and healthcare professionals alike.
“Particular challenges exist in rural areas and in the context of demographic change. Many older and chronically ill people live alone and struggle to navigate the healthcare system,” the statement said. Existing digital services have often failed due to technical complexity, a lack of clarity, and a lack of integration.
