In Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia, there is a risk of traffic jams on the highways at the start of the vacations. Anyone heading towards the North Sea or Baltic Sea should be prepared for long waiting times.

At the start of the summer vacations in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia, the ADAC is expecting traffic jams on the highways on the last weekend in June. Autobahn 4 in Saxony, which according to the traffic club is the busiest route in the state, is likely to be particularly affected. Long traffic jams are expected between Chemnitz and Dresden due to numerous roadworks.

The northern routes A13 and A9 as well as the southern routes A17 and A72 are also expected to be very busy. In total, the ADAC classifies more than 150 kilometers of freeway in Saxony as particularly prone to traffic jams. Autobahn GmbH also warns of bottlenecks in its congestion risk map - for example around the Schkeuditz junction, the Hermsdorfer junction and the Hochfranken junction.

The ADAC also expects high traffic volumes nationwide, especially on the highways to the North and Baltic Seas and on the main axes.
