Leipzig's Bundesliga handball players turn up the heat after a weak first half, but have to tremble until the end.

The SC DHfK Leipzig handball team has celebrated its eighth home win of the Bundesliga season. The team of Head Coach Runar Sigtryggsson defeated TBV Lemgo Lippe 29:28 (12:16) on Sunday afternoon after a clear improvement in performance in the second half. In front of 4,454 spectators, left wing Lukas Binder scored six goals to become SC DHfK's best scorer as it consolidated eighth place with 25:27 points.

The club from Leipzig got off to a fast start and was already 4:1 ahead after three-and-a-half minutes. However, the momentum quickly waned after the promising start. The home side made life difficult for itself with hasty shots and inaccurate passing. Lemgo got into the game better and better and equalized for the first time at 7:7 in the 16th minute. SC DHfK struck back with a 4:1 run to make it 11:8 in the 21st minute, but then completely lost the thread in attack. Whereas the TBV's Lukas Hutecek was brilliantly directed as scorer and provider, Leipzig lacked overview and ideas at the back. They also displayed considerable problems in pulling back, with the result that the visitors were able to turn a three-goal deficit into a 16:12 lead by the break.

The home side came out of the break with far more determination and stepped up its pace again. Simon Ernst ennobled Leipzig's strong spell with the equalizer to tie the scores at 21:21 in the 42nd minute. The intensity then increased significantly. Moritz Preuss put SC DHfK ahead for the first time in the second half (26:25 in the 53rd minute). Lemgo equalized again with 27 seconds remaining before Ernst scored on the counter-attack to win 29:28.
