Dynamo on the ground after own goal equalizer
David Kubatta hung in the net of the goal on the Bielefeld Alm after his unfortunate own goal. 472 kilometers away in Dresden's open-air stage Junge Garde, 4,000 fans sank to the ground stunned at the public viewing. 120 seconds before the end of stoppage time, something happened that no one wanted to believe after Bielefeld's proliferation of chances in the previous 94 minutes: the equalizer. The fact that they had to concede an own goal was an additional knock-out blow for Dresden. Nevertheless, the 1:1 draw at second-placed Arminia Bielefeld, the DFB Cup finalists, gives Dynamo every chance of bagging a return to Bundesliga 2 next week at SV Waldhof Mannheim.
By then, Dresden will have to do a lot of psychological rebuilding work, as everyone was more than dejected. "If you look at the timeline, it's bitter for us. But a point here is not so bad. The timing was disappointing, of course," said Dynamo coach Thomas Stamm on "MagentaSport". Kubatta found the scene for the equalizer "highly unfortunate. But I think that's also part of it," he said on MDR.
In any case, the game deserved to be called a top match. "The draw was okay. They had a few chances, we had a few chances. We see the positives," said Stamm. Dynamo's fighting qualities were particularly in demand, as Arminia's pressure was enormous at times. The defense was worthy of the second division in those moments. "We threw everything into it, crawled on our gums towards the end," said Niklas Hauptmann and promised: "We'll tackle next week the same way we did today and then get the win in Mannheim."
Hansa remain within striking distance
3:0 win, SV Sandhausen sent to the Regionalliga, their own promotion ambitions - at least the relegation place - still in sight. FC Hansa could be described as an all-round successful away performance. If it hadn't been for that first half. "We didn't see a 3-0 win because Sandhausen were clearly better in the first half and had the better chances," said Hansa coach Daniel Brinkmann, summing up the match.
The words were clear at the break after Sandhausen had carelessly missed countless chances to take a fairly big half-time lead. "I told the boys: 'If you want more, you have to invest more'. We did that in the second half and were able to win the game," said Brinkmann on "MagentaSport". They will now prepare well for the catch-up match against Unterhaching. "Our starting position has definitely not got any worse. The three points did us good. Nevertheless, we have to remain humble. At the end of the day, we haven't achieved anything," emphasized the coach.
Energie completely run out of steam
Energie Cottbus have said goodbye to the battle for a direct promotion place in Bundesliga 2. It wasn't a lack of willpower that led to a 2:4 (1:2) home defeat against SV Waldhof Mannheim. Rather, it was a lack of luck in attack or the class of Mannheim goalkeeper Jan-Christoph Bartels. And some amateurish defending by the Lusatians in the second half.
"It's a fantastic journey, it was a fantastic journey," said Energie coach Claus-Dieter Wollitz on "MagentaSport". Even though his team no longer have promotion in their own hands, Wollitz is not giving up. "We have to win, not just talk about it. We will build up the team," said the coach, but also noted critically: "The way we conceded goals has nothing to do with top soccer in the 3rd division. The error rate in defense in recent weeks was simply too high. That was also the case in the first half of the season, but our efficiency up front was still good," emphasized Wollitz.
