In the opinion of the Greens, the repayment of emergency coronavirus aid must not jeopardize small businesses in particular. The Green parliamentary group has therefore submitted a motion to the state parliament to provide relief to those affected and make full use of the scope for action. "Many small businesses and solo self-employed people in particular have struggled to recover from the economic consequences of the coronavirus pandemic. It is unacceptable that these people are now facing existential hardship due to repayments," said MP Wolfram Günther. The federal and state governments had promised unbureaucratic help during the coronavirus pandemic. The promise must be kept.
"The Free State must now make use of all available leeway and relieve those affected of the burden of repaying the emergency coronavirus aid. This requires more transparency," emphasized Günther. For example, there is the option of deferring repayments or paying them in installments. However, many of those affected are unaware of this because this offer has not yet been actively communicated.
