After a thrilling duel, the Weißenfels basketball team prevails against Hamburg. Hamburg misses out on its fourth win in a row.

The basketball team from Syntainics MBC put a stop to Veolia Towers Hamburg's run of success and came out on top on Friday evening by 99:94 (50:41). Thanks to their twelfth win of the season, the club from Weißenfels still has a chance of making the play-in games. Charles Callison (23), Khyri Thomas (21), Marcus Foster (19) and Spencer Reaves (13) played the biggest part in the home side's success.

Devon Daniels IV (25), Leonard Thorpe Jr (20), Zacharie Perrin (12), Niklas Wimberg (11) and Osaro Rich Igbineweka (10) scored the most points for Hamburg, who left the court as losers for the first time after three wins in a row.

Thrilling final phase

The home side got off to a furious start, went 31:20 ahead after the first quarter and extended its lead to 38:23 (12.). The Hanseatic club came up trumps in the third quarter, turning a 44:52 deficit (22nd) into a 62:54 lead (26th) with an 18:2 run.

The club from Central Germany got back into the game after the weak spell, tied the scores at 77:77 in the 34th minute and led 93:86 with two minutes left on the clock. Hamburg closed the gap to 95:94, but Khyri Thomas drained a lay-up and Charles Callison drained two free throws to seal victory for Weißenfels.
