Following several departures, Dynamo is rebuilding its roster. The Dresden club's third new signing is an experienced second-division player.

Dynamo Dresden has announced its third new signing. Nicolai Rapp is joining the club from league rival Karlsruher SC. The defensive midfielder is joining on a free transfer and is expected to fill the void left by Kofi Amoako’s move to Hamburger SV. Prior to Rapp, Dynamo had already signed Brooklyn Ezeh from Hannover 96 and Kaan Inanoglu from Eintracht Frankfurt. The club did not provide any details regarding the length of the contracts.

“Nicolai knows the league extremely well and, with his style of play, can provide a team with the necessary stability while also consistently providing important impetus for the team’s build-up play on offense,” said Dynamo’s sporting director, Sören Gonther.

Rapp, who was born in Heidelberg, came up through the youth academy at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. He gained second-division experience with SpVgg Greuther Fürth, FC Erzgebirge Aue, 1. FC Union Berlin, and Darmstadt 98. He also made his Bundesliga debut for Werder Bremen. After a loan stint with 1. FC Kaiserslautern, he has played for KSC since 2024. In total, the 29-year-old has played in nine Bundesliga matches and 211 games in the 2. Bundesliga.
