Eight restaurants in Saxony have retained their Michelin stars. Here’s what else the new “Michelin Guide” reveals about the gourmet scene.

Eight restaurants in Saxony have retained their Michelin stars. This is according to the new edition of the “Guide Michelin,” which was unveiled in Frankfurt am Main.

As in the previous year, the one-star restaurants include “Frieda,” “Stadtpfeiffer,” and “Kuultivo” in Leipzig; “Heiderand,” “Elements,” and “Genuss-Atelier” in Dresden, as well as “St. Andreas” in Aue-Bad Schlema and “Atelier Sanssouci” at Villa Sorgenfrei in Radebeul.

However, “Juwel” at the “Bei Schumann” hotel in Schirgiswalde-Kirschau is no longer listed in the “Michelin Guide.” The owners had taken a creative break last year. The coveted awards are valid for one year each.

339 gourmet restaurants nationwide

In total, the new “Michelin Guide” lists 339 gourmet restaurants nationwide, including twelve three-star and 48 two-star establishments. 279 restaurants received one star. There are no two- or three-star restaurants in Saxony.

Alongside “Gault&Millau,” the “Michelin Guide” is one of the world’s leading restaurant guides. Even a single star is considered a high honor. Three stars signify “exceptional cuisine—worth a special journey.”

The full-time inspectors have training in the culinary arts; they arrive unannounced and evaluate, according to uniform standards, professional preparation, taste, personal touch, value for money, and consistent quality.
