A cyclist has been injured in a traffic accident in Leipzig. According to the police, the 20-year-old was hit by a car on Saturday evening, the driver of which then fled the scene of the accident.
According to initial investigations, the car wanted to leave a traffic circle. The car hit the cyclist, who was crossing the road on a crosswalk. The cyclist was taken to hospital.
A breath test revealed a blood alcohol level of 2.24 per mille for the cyclist. He is now being investigated on suspicion of drunk driving. The police are also investigating for unauthorized removal from the scene of the accident and are asking witnesses to contact them.
