Berlin-Dresden cycle route gets first signposts

Route developed on a voluntary basis

The initiative for the cycle route came from ADFC Dresden in 2012. Members developed it on a voluntary basis. For the most part, it follows existing routes such as the Dahme and Spree cycle paths. The ADFC provides information material. If you only want to cycle part of the route, you can change trains at many stations along the way.

The project is now part of the strategic cycle traffic planning in Saxony. "We want to further develop cycle tourism in the Free State of Saxony," said Tourism Minister Barbara Klepsch (CDU) when installing a sign in Dresden-Neustadt.

However, the construction of new cycle paths is a lengthy process. It therefore makes sense to connect existing routes, as is the case here. According to the state tourism association, cyclists generate more than 560 million euros in revenue in Saxony every year - and secure around 10,800 jobs.
