A new heat wave is on the way—and the risk of wildfires is rising again. Here's what weather experts are predicting for Saxony.

The risk of wildfires is rising again in Saxony. On Wednesday, three weather stations in the northern part of the state will reach the second-highest risk level, according to the wildfire risk index forecast. According to calculations by the German Weather Service (DWD), however, the risk will rise particularly on Thursday.

At that time, risk level four out of five will apply not only at the weather stations in Klitzschen near Torgau, Leipzig/Halle (airport), and Oschatz. The DWD forecasts the second-highest danger level for more than half of the 27 weather stations. In the rest of the Free State, the risk is assessed as moderate almost everywhere, which corresponds to level three.
