FC Erzgebirge Aue bid farewell to its supporters with an embarrassing last home game in the 3rd Football League. On the penultimate matchday, coach Jens Härtel's team lost 2:3 (0:1) to SV Sandhausen, who had already been relegated. In front of around 8,000 spectators at the Erzgebirge Stadium, Borys Tashchy (62') and Marvin Stefaniak (84') were only able to equalize twice. Besar Halimi (11) and Luca-Milan Zander (75) had both put the visitors ahead, with Dominic Baumann adding the final goal in the first minute of stoppage time.
Härtel made four changes and also left legend Martin Männel on the bench and put Tim Kips in goal. However, the Luxembourger had to make a save after just eleven minutes. Aue had more of the play, but Sandhausen were very effective and were able to counter-attack to equalize. Aue also had chances to equalize the visitors' lead for a third time, but were ultimately unsuccessful.
