Bundesliga club RB Leipzig has extended the contracts with its three goalkeepers. Péter Gulácsi signed a new contract until June 2027. The 35-year-old is now entering his twelfth season with the Saxons.
The Belgian Maarten Vandevoordt, who is twelve years younger, has signed a contract until 2030. He has been at RB since 2024 and is considered a goalkeeper with prospects who can hope to be promoted to number 1 as early as next summer. Leopold Zingerle (31) also extended his contract and will stay until 2028.
"You can always rely on Pete, he is once again proving to be a reliable back-up in his eleventh season with us," said the sporting director about Gulácsi, according to the RB press release. The Hungarian can still give the team a lot with his experience.
About Vandevoordt, Schäfer said: "We signed Maarten a few years ago with the perspective that the future belongs to him." He has already demonstrated his strong skills and abilities in almost 200 professional games. With his style of play, Vandevoordt fits perfectly with the soccer "that we want to play", said Schäfer.
