The Niners Chemnitz basketball team has celebrated another success after three defeats in a row. The team of Head Coach Rodrigo Pastore deservedly defeated ratiopharm Ulm 79:66 (41:34) in front of its home crowd. With 17 points and twelve assists, Eric Washington was the outstanding player in front of 3,912 spectators for the twelfth-placed club in the table, which is back in sight of the play-in places with 26:32 points.
In the first of three home games in succession, Chemnitz began with a lot of verve and quickly opened up a 15:8 gap (6th minute). Whereas the home side impressed with its good selection of shots, Ulm conceded eight turnovers in the first quarter alone. Chemnitz continued to set the tone after that. After a 13:2 run, the lead grew to 38:22 (17').
However, when Ulm switched to zone defense, the Niners lost their rhythm. As a result, the lead dwindled to 43:41 in the 23rd minute. However, the home side regained control of the game with an improvement in defense. Since they also developed more drive to the basket, they pulled 75:62 ahead by the 37th minute.
