Preparations are underway for the DEL record champions. The traditional test match at the Lausitzer Füchse is a success.

Hockey champions Eisbären Berlin have recorded a clear victory in their first test game. The team of coach Serge Aubin won 5:0 (1:0, 4:0, 0:0) in Weißwasser at the cooperation partner Lausitzer Füchse from the DEL2. Blaine Byron (16th minute), Gabriel Fontaine (27th), Ty Ronning (30th) and finally Liam Kirk twice (34th, 36th) scored for the Berliners. Young goalkeeper Linus Vieillard made his professional debut.

There are two more test games next weekend at the preparation tournament in České Budějovice. The opponents there are the home team Banes Motor České Budějovice and the Finnish top club Oulun Kärpät.

The Polar Bears will play their first competitive game on September 5 in the Champions Hockey League (CHL) at Swedish club Växjö Lakers. The new DEL season begins for the defending champions on September 20 with an away game against the Kölner Haie.
