Dresdner SC's women's volleyball team did their duty and won 3:0 (25:15, 25:12, 25:15) at Schwarz-Weiß Erfurt. Alexander Waibl's charges thus preserved their minimal chance of securing second or third place ahead of the final main round matchday.
The Dresden women lived up to their role as favorites right from the start in front of 1003 spectators in Erfurt's Riethsporthalle. They clearly dictated proceedings with a powerful service game. Setter Emma Grome, who was honored as the most valuable DSC player at the end, was able to set up her attackers variably from a stable reception.
The Elbe club was also clearly superior in block and court defense to the team in eighth place in the table, who also made too many easy mistakes. Japan's Miku Akimoto converted the first match point after just 58 minutes to secure her 15th win of the season.
The DSC women already have to face the Italian top team from Chieri at home in the semi-finals of the CEV Cup next Thursday.
