According to the police, Christopher Street Day (CSD) in Pirna went off without a hitch until the early evening. Over the course of the day, 150 police officers from the Saxon police force and around 110 officers from the federal police secured the event, according to the Dresden police headquarters. The CSD under the motto "Diversity goes queer through society" is set to continue into the evening hours.
Two gatherings had also been registered in connection with Christopher Street Day. One of them was held under the motto "Defend CSDs - always and everywhere". At another rally, right-wingers wanted to protest against the CSD. Their demonstration also took place under police escort and was led past a road blockade. A 34-year-old man from the right-wing spectrum is being investigated for using symbols of unconstitutional organizations. He was displaying a banned symbol as a tattoo.
Every year on Christopher Street Day, people in many places take to the streets for the rights of gays, lesbians, transsexuals and transgender, intersex and bisexual people.
