Around 6,000 people celebrated the 15th Dresden Castle Night on Saturday in summery temperatures and in the open air. The sold-out event united the parks of Albrechtsberg Palace, Lingnerschloss, Eckberg Palace and the Saloppe summer restaurant into a cultural landscape with 18 stages and performance areas, according to the organizers. More than 300 artists offered around 80 concerts with music ranging from rock and swing to indie pop and house.
Sea of lights and projections in the castle park
"The guests danced into the morning through the balmy summer night - it was simply fantastic," said organizer Mirco Meinel. He was particularly pleased with the increasing popularity of younger visitors.
The large-scale musical fireworks display accompanied by projections at Albrechtsberg Castle was a special highlight of the program. Six kilometers of fairy lights lined the paths of the event. According to the organizers, more than 30 percent of the guests came from outside the city.
Hip-hop meets castle romance
For the first time, urban art was also part of the programme: The Saloppe was completely designed by the House of Urban Culture (HOUC), a Dresden cultural institution that sees itself as a central point of contact for hip-hop culture and urban art. Visitors were able to experience street art, breakdancing and DJ sets there - a concept that, according to the organizers, was very popular.
The next Schlössernacht is planned for 25 July 2026. Advance sales have already begun.
