There was an extensive police operation at Leipzig Central Station on 25.03.2024, which focused on combating violent crime and theft. Over twenty police officers from the Leipzig Federal Police Inspectorate, Leipzig Police Headquarters and the Federal Riot Police were deployed to increase security in this area.
During the operation, 20 Identitarians were identified, 14 searches were carried out and two arrest warrants were executed. A 57-year-old Lithuanian and a 25-year-old Somali were taken to a prison. The operation was characterized by the observation of a robbery in which a 55-year-old man was attacked by three men. Two suspects, a 26-year-old Tunisian and a 19-year-old German, were arrested. The third perpetrator escaped despite a police helicopter operation.
In Leipzig-Grünau, a 15-year-old Syrian was arrested after a handbag robbery. Thanks to a witness tip-off, the police were able to identify and provisionally arrest him. The teenager is in Germany unaccompanied and was taken to a shelter for unaccompanied minor asylum seekers after undergoing identification treatment.
