Anyone who purchased a specific batch of caviar cream made from herring roe and smoked salmon from Feinkost Reich should dispose of the tube. It contains the wrong sweetener.

Due to an incorrectly added sweetener, Feinkost Reich GmbH of Ditfurt in the Harz region is recalling a specific batch of its herring roe caviar cream with smoked salmon. The recall applies to tubes with a best-by date of November 19, 2026. Consumers are advised not to eat the product. Consumers should dispose of the product.

The company reported that an internal inspection revealed the cream had a very sweet taste. It stated that the sweetener sodium saccharin had been added to the product instead of sodium benzoate.

As of now, the affected product was sold in the five eastern German states as well as Berlin.
