More than 350 birds were tested for bird flu at Leipzig Zoo - with no further results. What happens now at the zoo.

After a case of bird flu in a Dalmatian pelican, Leipzig Zoo has given the all-clear. The zoo announced that no further infections had been detected during the examination of more than 350 other birds. Nevertheless, the walk-in aviaries and the flamingo lagoon remain closed to visitors. However, the Gondwanaland tropical hall and the Pongoland monkey enclosure reopened on Thursday.

The zoo announced the death of the Dalmatian pelican at the weekend. The animal was diagnosed with an avian flu infection. As a result, samples were taken from all other birds and tested.

The zoo closed off some facilities but remained open. Visitors temporarily paid a reduced admission price. From Thursday, regular tickets will have to be purchased again.
