A manufacturer is recalling breakfast crackers due to salmonella. Which batches are affected and what customers should be aware of now.

Rostocker Wurst- und Schinkenspezialitäten GmbH has recalled parts of its breakfast crackers "die Rostocker" due to the detection of salmonella. According to the online portal "Lebensmittelwarnung.de", 250-gram packs with the batch number 354417 and a best-before date of 25.02.2026 are affected.

The product is sold in Penny stores in Berlin, Brandenburg, Hesse, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Lower Saxony, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. "Please do not consume the product if it has the stated best-before date. Take it back to your point of sale - the purchase price will of course be refunded," the company explained.

A salmonella illness manifests itself within a few days of infection with diarrhea, abdominal pain and occasionally vomiting and a slight fever, according to the portal. The symptoms usually subside on their own after several days. However, infants, young children, senior citizens and people with a weakened immune system in particular could also develop more severe courses of the disease.
