The Hamburg-based Dax group Beiersdorf plans to officially open a production center in Leipzig on Friday. Among others, Saxony's Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU) is expected to attend the official opening. At the beginning of May, the Nivea Group Beiersdorf had started production in its new plant in Leipzig. There deodorants, hair spray and shaving foam are produced.

In Leipzig about 200 people are to work in the future. In return, Beiersdorf is closing its Waldheim site, where the Florena brand, rich in tradition and widely used in the GDR, had its origins. A significant number of employees will move from Waldheim in central Saxony to Leipzig.
