Following the detection of salmonella, Le Gusto brand rubbed basil sold by Aldi Nord is being recalled. The product should not be eaten, according to the portal lebensmittelwarnung.de. Jars containing 15 grams of chopped basil are affected. The best-before date is March 2028, the batch number B 15. The supplier of the product is the company TSI Consumer Goods from Zeven in Lower Saxony.
Salmonella can cause gastrointestinal infections and is particularly dangerous for small children, the elderly, pregnant women and immunocompromised people. According to the portal, the product was sold in the federal states of Brandenburg, Bremen, Hamburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Schleswig-Holstein and Thuringia. Anyone who owns affected goods can return them to Aldi Nord and will be refunded the purchase price even without presenting the receipt.
