Toni Kroos remains tight-lipped about his sporting future at Real Madrid and a possible return to the German national soccer team. Even though he is currently being praised to the skies by coaches, teammates and the media, the midfielder himself is revealing very little. "I don't know yet, to be honest, I'm still thinking about it, I haven't made a decision yet. The truth is that I'm satisfied, I'm happy. And if a lot of people want me to keep playing, then it's a positive signal," said Kroos ahead of the Champions League round of 16 first leg at RB Leipzig this Tuesday (21:00/Prime Video).
When asked specifically about a comeback after 106 caps for the national team, the 34-year-old said: "As far as the national team is concerned, it's the same thing, I'm thinking about it, there's a possibility."
Real coach Carlo Ancelotti did not want to give his exceptional player any guidelines or specific advice. "I don't know, Toni Kroos has the right to decide for himself what he wants. Of course it's important with the Euro in his own country, it could also work out well. But he has the right to make that decision." This is how the veteran coach has handled things with the Whites so far.
The former Bayern coach Ancelotti also explained why Kroos is now in such good form with the strength of the Madrilenian team. "He's always the best. He already had that passing accuracy ten years ago at FC Bayern. What sets him apart now is that he plays in a team that plays with enormous energy, so his strengths come into their own even more. He simply feels good with the young players," said Ancelotti.
