Dynamo Dresden can look forward to a full house for its home opener in the 2. Bundesliga. The club successfully filed a lawsuit with the Permanent Arbitration Court of the German Football Association (DFB) challenging a ruling by the DFB Federal Court. As a result, the second-division club will be able to open sections K1 through K5 for Sunday’s match against Darmstadt 98 (1:30 p.m./Sky), as Dynamo announced.
Following serious incidents during the home game against Hertha BSC on April 4, the DFB Sports Court had imposed heavy fines on both clubs and additionally imposed a partial spectator ban on Dresden for two home games. The second match was suspended, with the penalty deferred until summer 2027.
Dresden viewed the partial ban on approximately 9,500 spectators as a collective punishment and had filed an appeal against it. Both the Sports Court and the Federal Court rejected the appeals, so the Permanent Arbitration Court had to rule on the matter and suspended the proceedings, which, according to Dynamo, are now “expected to take place in the fall.”
