Bundesliga volleyball club Dresdner SC has announced its next new signing. The German cup winners have announced that Canadian middle blocker Amanda Siksna has joined the team. The 22-year-old moves from Queen's University in Ontario to the Elbe and signs a one-year contract.
The 1.85 m tall athlete is starting her first professional season. The middle blocker was recently one of the most outstanding players in Canadian university volleyball. In the 2023/24 season, she led the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) rankings with 140 blocks and was named an OUA All-Star.
Coach Waibl praises her dynamism
"Amanda is very athletic, a dynamic middle blocker with a dangerous serve. She has had a great college career and will also be successful at professional level with her very positive, combative nature," said DSC coach Alexander Waibl.
Siksna herself is looking forward to the new challenge: "Dresdner SC is an established club with a long history of success and an incredible fan base. This club has everything I was looking for: a top team, a strong organization and a vibrant city that is rich in history and culture."
