The 31-year-old attacker from future league rivals RB Leipzig could fill the gap in the center of attack left by the departure of Davie Selke. Poulsen has been with RB Leipzig since 2013 and was involved in the Saxons' promotions to Bundesliga 2 and the Bundesliga. The Danish international has scored 49 goals in 233 Bundesliga games to date. His contract in Leipzig expires in June next year.
On the other hand, it is highly unlikely that second-league top scorer Selke will play for HSV again. With 22 goals, the 30-year-old played a key role in Hamburg's return to the Bundesliga. However, the club and player were unable to agree on an extension to his contract, which has now expired.
