The SC DHfK Leipzig handball team is still without a win in the Bundesliga. On the home debut of their new coach Frank Carstens on Sunday afternoon, however, the Leipzig team at least drew 27:27 (13:13) with TSV Hannover-Burgdorf and thus gained their first home point of the season. National player Franz Semper was the best scorer for SC DHfK, who now have 3:25 points, with six goals in front of 4,021 spectators.
The team at the bottom of the table got off to an energetic start, but suffered a weak spell midway through the second half with technical errors and poorly prepared finishes. However, goalkeeper Domenico Ebner made three seven-meter saves to prevent Hanover from opening up a significant gap in this phase. Up to the break, the home side forced a duel at eye level with a self-sacrificing effort in defense.
After the break, Hanover used its playful advantages to open up a slight gap to 19:16 (43'). However, Leipzig did not allow itself to be shaken off and tied the scores at 26:26 with 103 seconds remaining. Justus Fischer countered to give Hanover the lead before Semper saved the point.
