Former pro Felix Kroos believes Dynamo Dresden is capable of playing a strong role in the 2. Bundesliga. “I consider Dresden to be one of the strongest teams,” said TV analyst Kroos during an RTL/Sky media roundtable. Although Dynamo doesn’t have that one standout player, the team functions very well as a unit, noted the former Union Berlin midfielder. The 35-year-old expects the Saxon team to finish in the top ten, “without getting my hopes up too high about a finish in the top three.”
Kroos viewed the signing of Nicolai Rapp, who came from league rival Karlsruher SC, as a positive move. The 29-year-old defensive all-rounder will help stabilize the team. The experience from last season—avoiding relegation after finishing 18th in the first half of the season—will also help: “That gives you an incredible amount of confidence. I think they’ll kick off the season with that confidence.”
