Football fans from FC Erzgebirge Aue were attacked in a highway parking lot on their way back from the East German derby in Cottbus. According to the police, 15 to 20 masked men attacked the group of around ten during a break near the Thiendorf highway exit.
The perpetrators punched and kicked the Aue fans. Fan paraphernalia was stolen, including from a van. The victims were slightly injured. The "Sächsische Zeitung" and "Bild" had previously reported. According to a police spokesperson, the background to the crime is still unclear and is being investigated. Witnesses are being sought. Third division team Aue had lost 1:2 at Energie Cottbus.
