The DFB has granted all 20 third division clubs a license for the coming season. The eastern trio also passed the performance audit.

Erzgebirge Aue, Energie Cottbus and Hansa Rostock can plan for another season in the 3rd division. All three clubs from the North-East German Football Association (NOFV) have received their licenses for the coming season from the German Football Association, as announced by the governing body.

After Dynamo Dresden's promotion to the second division, only the trio from the east are still in the 3rd division. Regional league champions Lok Leipzig missed out on promotion in the play-offs against northern representatives TSV Havelse (1:1/0:3).

All 20 teams that qualified in sporting terms passed the DFB's economic and organizational test. The fixture list for the coming season is due to be published at the beginning of July. The first match day will be August 1, with the final round being played on May 17, 2026.
