Flamingos, gorillas and the tropical hall remain off-limits: Leipzig Zoo is closing popular facilities due to suspected bird flu. What does this mean for visitors?

Following a suspected case of bird flu, Leipzig Zoo has closed some areas to visitors. The flamingo lagoon, the great ape enclosure Pongoland and the tropical world Gondwanaland are closed, according to the zoo. "However, all other areas of the zoo are open." These include the aquarium, Koala Land and the Kiwara Savannah.

Due to the restrictions, visitors will receive a discount on admission. The zoo is in close contact with the authorities, it said. So far, it is a suspected case that has not yet been officially confirmed.
