Because of the positive weather forecasts, swimmers in Chemnitz can go to the outdoor pool for a week longer than originally planned. The city has announced that the Gablenz outdoor pool and the Bernsdorf outdoor pool will remain open until Sunday, September 7. Originally, the season would have ended at the end of August.
In Dresden and Leipzig, the season continues as normal
People in Dresden can also continue to swim outdoors. According to Dresdner Bäder GmbH, some outdoor pools will remain open until mid-September, others until September 7. If the weather remains consistently summery after that, an extension will be considered. However, there are currently no concrete plans for this.
In Leipzig, the outdoor pools are also regularly open until September 7. If it remains warm at the beginning of September, a longer season could also be considered. However, there is not much leeway, according to the Leipziger Versorgungs- und Verkehrsgesellschaft. One reason: some of the staff will then move to the reopened indoor pools.
When it's over outside, it's back inside
In parallel, the municipal swimming pools in Chemnitz will reopen as normal. The halls in Bernsdorf, am Südring, Gablenz and the 50-metre hall in the city pool will start the new season at the end of August or beginning of September.
