After a storm at the end of last year left damage in the forests of the district of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains, experts fear further negative effects from the bark beetle. The district announced in Pirna on Wednesday that the dead wood that had been felled served as a suitable breeding ground for the pests. Before the bark beetle season in spring, it is therefore important that the broken crowns, trunk parts and fallen trees are removed.
