Saxony's Economics Minister Martin Dulig (SPD) plans to travel to Italy on Monday with a delegation of business and city representatives. As the Ministry of Economic Affairs announced on Sunday, the aim is to strengthen economic relations with Italy. Dulig and the delegation of around 25 people will visit the regions of Lombardy and Emilia-Romagna until Thursday. Both regions are members of the Alliance of Automotive Regions, which was founded in 2022 with Saxony's participation. The trip is being organized by the Saxon Economic Development Agency.
"One aim of the trip is to deepen relationships in the automotive and supplier industry in the Emilia-Romagna region in order to establish contacts at company level, exchange experiences and explore opportunities for cooperation," said Dulig. According to the Automotive Suppliers Network Saxony (AMZ), one of the aims is to relocate automotive value chains back to Europe.
"Another aim is to learn about best practice experiences in Lombardy in the areas of Smart City and Smart Infrastructure, to sound out potential for cooperation in these areas and to take up topics from the automotive and supplier industry there too." Among other things, company visits to brake system specialist Brembo, the headquarters of Siemens Italia and Lamborghini are planned.
