Due to suspected norovirus contamination, the Kaufland supermarket chain is recalling frozen strawberries from its K-Classic private label. Affected are 300-gram packages labeled “K-Classic Harvest-Fresh Frozen Strawberries” with best-before dates of February 10, 2028, April 1, 2028, and April 22, 2028, as reported on the lebensmittelwarnung.de website. The product’s GTIN is 4337185826788.
The affected strawberries should not be consumed. Noroviruses can cause, among other things, sudden vomiting and diarrhea. The infection can be more severe, particularly in young children, pregnant women, and the elderly or those with underlying health conditions.
The frozen strawberries were sold in Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Berlin, Brandenburg, Hesse, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, Saxony, and Saxony-Anhalt. According to reports, Kaufland has already removed the product from sale. Affected packages can be returned to stores. The purchase price will be refunded even without a receipt.
