Following the detection of STEC bacteria, a company from Baden-Württemberg wants to be on the safe side. It is recalling some of its products.

Gartenfrisch Jung GmbH is recalling its product "EDEKA Herzstücke Kräutersalat Salatmix" in 200 gram bags. Only products with a use-by date of 16.10.2024 are affected, the company in Jagsthausen (Heilbronn district) announced. The date is printed on the back of the packaging.

The recall is being carried out as a precautionary measure because STEC bacteria (Shiga toxin-producing E. coli) were detected in the product during an investigation. An adverse effect on health cannot be ruled out.

STEC bacteria can trigger feverish gastrointestinal disorders, among other things. Consumption of the listed product is strongly advised against. According to the company, other articles and other consumption data are not affected.

The product was mainly offered at EDEKA and Marktkauf in the federal states of Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, Saxony, Thuringia and the parts of Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia bordering Hesse. The goods were immediately withdrawn from sale. However, it could not be ruled out that individual packs had been sold to end consumers.
