The wolf MT15 from the Großhennersdorf pack (Görlitz district) has died in a traffic accident in Poland. The wolf left its parental territory at the end of January and alternated between the district of Görlitz and Poland, according to the Görlitz District Office and the Saxon State Office for Environment, Agriculture and Geology. The information comes from data from a transmitter that the growing pup was wearing on its collar.
Wolf to be shot
The wolf was captured in November and fitted with the transmitter. After that, there were initially no sightings of the animal, according to reports. In March, however, there were again close encounters with the wolf in several places. In one case, the wolf quickly approached two local residents.
The authorities then reportedly planned to shoot the animal. However, this never happened because the wolf migrated to Poland. It reportedly died there in an accident on the night of 13 March in Czerwona Woda, just 40 kilometers from Großhennersdorf.
