The Free Voters in Saxony support the protests of farmers against the policies of the federal government.

The Free Voters (FW) in Saxony are showing solidarity with the planned protests by farmers against the policies of the federal government. In a statement on Sunday, they described the protests as an "encouraging expression of dissatisfaction among the population". They are "pleased to see that people are beginning to fight back and raise their voices against nonsensical measures that threaten their existence".

The Free Voters are calling for a complete withdrawal of the cuts to subsidies for agricultural diesel, the Building Energy Act, the truck toll increase, the VAT increase in the catering sector and the CO2 price increase. The measures adopted by the federal government would weaken rural areas in particular. The interests of agriculture in particular should not be neglected.

FW regional head Thomas Weidinger explained that the protests showed a growing dissatisfaction with political decisions. "We hope that this resistance will also be reflected in a higher voter turnout in the upcoming elections. Effective change can only be brought about if people actively participate in democratic processes." At the same time, they reject the appropriation of the demonstrations by extremists and other enemies of the constitution.
