Possible health risk: recall of instant noodles

The Dutch food wholesaler Heuschen & Schrouff Oriental Foods Trading B.V. is recalling certain packs of the product "Samyang Instant Noodles Spicy Chicken Carbonara Cup". Current investigations have shown that the product has an increased glycidol content, the company announced.

A health risk cannot be ruled out with absolute certainty, it said. Customers are asked not to consume the product.

According to the Federal Office for Risk Assessment, glycidol has been classified by various scientific bodies as probably carcinogenic to humans.

Customers will be refunded the purchase price

The recall affects packs with the batch number HW3 and the best-before date of 28 August 2026. According to the information, customers can return the product to the store and receive a refund of the purchase price even without presenting the receipt.

The recall was published on lebensmittelwarnung.de on Wednesday. The states affected are Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Berlin, Brandenburg, Bremen, Hamburg, Hesse, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Schleswig-Holstein and Thuringia.
